Sandra Wardwell, WHNP

  • Sandra Wardwell is a board-certified Health Care Nurse Practitioner for women practicing in Bangor, Maine.

Sandy grew up in Brewer, Maine and then spent many years as an OB/GYN nurse. After completing graduate school, she left the area for an adventure of a lifetime as a nurse practitioner in the US Air Force. Her first two years were spent in Washington, D.C. at the hospital on Andrews Air Force Base. She also served as a White House Military Aide during the George W. Bush administration. Transferring to San Antonio, Texas in 2004, she continued to provide healthcare to active duty women as well as dependents of active duty military and retirees at Wilford Hall Medical Center, the flagship hospital for the USAF. During that time she deployed to Iraq, serving for 5 months as the only GYN provider for all of our female troops north of Baghdad.

After completing her Air Force tour, she spent a year as a contraceptive specialist with Organon, traveling and instructing healthcare providers in the use of subdermal implants.

Sandy has a 30-year-old son, Luke, who lives and works in the Bangor area. She and her partner, Ed, reside in Bangor and spend their free time enjoying stand-up paddleboarding at their summer home, playing golf, and are active leaders of Friends of Maine Football.

Sandy feels that her role in healthcare has always been to form a strong and compassionate connection with the young girls and women she cares for, supporting them in achieving wellness throughout their reproductive years and beyond through menopause. It is her goal every day to listen and meet their needs with a calm, gentle and caring approach to personal health.
