Abigail J. Cronkite, MSN, FNP-C was born and raised in Calais, Maine. She earned her undergraduate nursing degree in 2001 from the University of Maine at Orono. Abbie then went on to work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Eastern Maine Medical Center. In 2004, she joined Dr. Paul Smith at his OB/GYN practice as the clinical supervisor.
She then went on to receive a Master of Science degree in nursing in 2008 from The University of Maine and rejoined Dr. Smith as a family nurse practitioner. Abbie is independently licensed by the Maine State Board of Nursing and board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a member of the Maine Nurse Practitioners Association.
Abbie currently lives in Hermon with her husband, Seth and son, Colin. As a life-long Mainer, she feels fortunate to be raising her son with his cousins and grandparents close by. Abbie enjoys reading, jogging, watching movies, and relaxing with her family in her spare time.
It is a passion for women's health that drew Abbie to a career in obstetrical and gynecologic care. After her first clinical day on the Labor and Delivery unit as a nursing student, she was hooked! As a new mom herself, she feels she has an empathetic perspective on pregnancy and feels fortunate for the opportunity to support other women through their experiences. She also has a sense of duty to her gynecologic patients as they maintain their wellness and work through health issues.
